Set for Saturday, June 25
Auditions for the John Ritter Tribute Showcase will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, Texas. The contestants will sing traditional country music and will be judged on vocal performance, stage presence, appearance, and song selection. Thirty finalists will be selected to compete at the Showcase, and the winner will perform at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Mark the date on your calendar for the entire weekend--August 19-20, 2011. Not only will the winner of the John Ritter Tribute Showcase be announced, but other festivities surrounding Saturday's induction ceremonies will be available. At the Showcase, held at the Carthage Jr. High auditorium, emcee for the evening will be Brad Maule. He is best known for his role as Dr. Tony Jones on the soap opera General Hospital. Entertainment will include Jake Penrod from Tyler, Texas, a singer who has the looks and sound of Hank Williams, Sr. Also performing will be last year's Showcase winner, Lindsay Harding from Longview, Texas.
If you've never had the opportunity to visit the Tex Ritter Museum at the TCMHOF, then Saturday is your chance. The Museum will be open all day Saturday, August 20, for free tours, plus some of the artists will be available for book signings. While touring the Museum, stop and listen to The Tex Ritter Roundup in the main ballroom. If you love Country Music, this is a great weekend to get out and hear the talent of up-and-coming stars and to take a step back in time as you walk through the displays of the Museum.
